What Is Tap Gun?
Tap Gun is Calgary’s ultimate happy hour showdown — a two-week competition culminating in a high-energy, two-day outdoor finale. It's designed to crown the best happy hour in the city, bringing top venues head-to-head in food, drink, and flair battles, all voted on by the public.

Every ticket is $15 more expensive at the door, so we recommend getting them here now, or from your favourite venue competing in the fight.
The Two-Week Happy Hour Dogfight
Leading up to the main event, participating venues engage in a two-week-long happy hour competition. During this period:
Venues showcase their best specials: Each participating venue promotes their signature happy hour offerings, aiming to attract patrons and garner votes.
Public voting: Customers visit these venues, experience the specials, and vote for their favourites, determining which venues advance to the finale.
This phase is crucial for venues to demonstrate their appeal and secure a spot in the final showdown.
The Hangar Finals: August 22–23, 2025
Friday, August 22 – The Battle Begins
Finalist Showdown: Selected venues set up booths along “Hangar Row,” recreating their best happy hour specials for attendees to sample.
Public Voting: Guests taste, experience, and vote on their top three favourites, directly influencing the competition's outcome.
Atmosphere: The event is designed to be immersive and engaging, with a focus on community and celebration.
Saturday, August 23 – The Grand Finale
Bartender Competitions: The spotlight shifts to bartenders competing in flair battles, speed pours, and the crowd-favourite Wingman Round (a bartender and patron tag-team challenge).
Crowning the Champion: The Tap Gun Champion is announced, concluding the event with celebration and recognition.
Additional Attractions: Food trucks, live entertainment, and continuous drink specials enhance the festive atmosphere.

The Battle! Finalist venues face off by recreating their best happy hour specials, complete with food and drinks, for guests to taste, experience, and vote on.
Attendees walk “Hangar Row,” try it all, and cast their votes for their top 3 favourites.

Before the Tap Gun Champion is crowned, the spotlight shifts to the bartenders.
Live on stage, they compete in head-to-head flair battles, lightning-fast pours, and the crowd-favourite Wingman Round (a bartender + patron tag team challenge).
Food trucks roll in, the drinks keep flowing, and the winner is crowned!

If you're selected as a finalist, the deposit secures your official Hangar booth at the event
If you're not selected, you receive $450 back — no hard feelings
